WooCommerce powers millions of stores, and its built-in search is genuinely poor: it’s slow, it runs on the same server that renders every page, and if a shopper types “runing shoes” it finds nothing. A no-results page is a lost sale — quietly, thousands of times a day, across the web.
The tools that fix this have their own problems. The two best-funded search vendors in this space both carry permanently-googleable billing scandals — per-search meters that surprise you on your best day, price hikes that arrive without warning. And nearly every hosted search tool shares a quiet embarrassment: its copy of your catalogue drifts out of date, so shoppers see wrong prices and sold-out products. The usual “fix” is a button labelled Force re-indexation.
